Why are you called "Real Synthetic"?

The name "Real Synthetic" is an allusion to the fact that we sell jewelry made from man-made gemstones. This is not something we conceal, but on the contrary, it is something we wholeheartedly embrace, and is a central element of our brand identity.

Our mission as a brand is to challenge the stigma surrounding artificial gems, maintaining the belief that they deserve to be celebrated and worn with pride.

Our jewelry is crafted with precision and passion using high-quality diamond simulants, most notably cubic zirconia. While they may not be natural, the beauty, craftsmanship, and elegance of our pieces are very real. We redefine the concept of 'real' beyond mere geological origin.

Real, to us, is the tangible allure of a finely crafted necklace gracing your collarbone, the sparkle of an exquisite ring catching the light, and the confidence you exude while wearing our jewelry. Real is the ethereal charm that becomes an integral part of your unique style, expressing your personality with grace and sophistication.

In essence, our jewelry may not be 'natural,' but it is undeniably genuine. It is a real manifestation of artistry and creativity, designed to elevate your presence and enhance your individuality. Our cubic zirconia pieces redefine authenticity, offering not just adornments but a canvas for your self-expression and a reflection of your personal aura.

How can jewelry with synthetic gemstones be high quality?

We only use the finest quality cubic zirconia in our jewelry. The production of cubic zirconia has been around since the 1970s and the techniques have improved considerably since then.

Because it is man-made, there is a surprising advantage over natural diamonds, being that the quality of cubic zirconia is consistent and well-controlled. There are fewer flaws than natural diamonds, which frequently contain imperfections resulting in a cloudy color and poor clarity.

Diamonds are, however, more durable than cubic zirconia and are able to maintain their standards for longer. That being said, diamonds are rated a 10 on the Mohs Scale of mineral hardness, whereas cubic zirconia is not far behind, being rated up to 8.5, meaning it ranks higher than other minerals such as topaz (8) and quartz (7).

Is your jewelry tarnish-free?

Yes, our jewelry is resistant to tarnishing. But there are limitations to this.

Some of our pieces are made using stainless steel as the base metal, which is highly resistant to tarnishing and corrosion.

Some are also made with 925 sterling silver or brass as the base metal, which are each susceptible to tarnishing as they react with sulfates in the air. Although, this phenomenon is easily reversible through polishing the metals using at-home methods such as vinegar or baking soda.

However, all of our jewelry, regardless of the base metal, is plated with either rhodium, 18k gold, or rose goldtone (14k gold & copper alloy). These platings are specifically intended to act as a barrier between the base metals and outside elements, which preserves the jewelry quality and slows down the rate at which it tarnishes.

Additionally, we coat all of our jewelry with double the US standard of thickness for plated metals, which offers even greater protection.

That being said, all jewelry will eventually tarnish, as the outer plating will slowly wear away with time, exposing the base metal beneath it. Our methods can only delay this phenomenon and ensure that your jewelry maintains a new appearance for longer.

With proper care, our jewelry is capable of staying in presentable condition for years.

Is your jewelry hypoallergenic?

Yes, all of our jewelry is hypoallergenic.

The main metals that we use are brass (copper and zinc), stainless steel, 925 sterling silver, rhodium and gold. None of these metals commonly cause allergic reactions, thus making our jewelry hypoallergenic.

Furthermore, none of our jewelry contains nickel, which is a common culprit of reactions in people with metal allergies.

For jewelry made only with brass alloy, the main concern is getting a temporary discoloration of the skin due to oxidation. This does not happen with our jewelry, seeing as it is rhodium-plated, preventing any discoloration from occurring. Even so, this phenomenon is totally harmless and reversible, and is not akin to an allergic reaction.
